Does this redo the nickel plating?
It deglazes the nikasil plating and makes new cross hatching groves to be sealed to the new rings
@@Fixin2Ride-Official- so, does it make it if u have no nickel seel left, can I do this and run the cylinder again?
Yes. As long as you have a good cylinder by checking front to back of inside of the cylinder at top, middle and bottom and make sure its not out of spec for being round and tapered. Run 10 passes at about 600rpms and uo and down fast. Then reverse it. You want 60° cross hatching.
I have a 650 Can Am Outlander, can't imagine riding a 450 bike, all that power and little weight. I'm pretty sure I'd wreck it. LOL, nice riding Andrew.
Lol. Thanks. If the steering was tighter, I would have rode a little harder. The suspension was nice. I think I need to back iut the clickers in my 250 amd it would ride more like this one. I set it for sand and kept it there. Lol
The black cover is for a control kit such as the Eaton C600M
Aaaah. NICE! So that will cut the power without having to unplug it..
You did an awesome job and obviously put a lot of time and care into doing it right! I’m about to dig into a “new” scag 36 from mid 2000s I believe it is. Did the same model a few years back and learned a lot just by taking stuff apart, most notably take pictures before you start dissecting everything Lol. Great mowers tho and fun, relatively cheap side project. 👍🏼
Thanks a lot I really appreciate it and yeah they're great mowers for sure. I've got mine was all beat up when I got it and I dumped about 500 bucks into it between belts tires car rebuild kit and transmission sliders and used it for 9 years straight changing the oil here and there. Then before I sold it I decided to restore it and this was the result.
I have a question if u don’t mind answering, will 2009 crf250r transmission bearings fit in a 2006 crf250r??
Yes, they should. But you can cross reference them in rockymtatvmc if you need.
Glue no wire
I go through them enough to use Wire. At least used to. don't want to deal with the cleanup of the glue when it comes time to replace them either.
it's called polarizing the stator.....
Thank you
So if ive a bogging ,sputtering problem then it could be problem with my rectifier regulator.ive tried new ignition coil, new spark plug, changed cdi box new air filter, new carburator also and its still not reving cleanly.
Could be just unplug the rectifier and see how it acts but just be aware that the battery will not be charging at that point
I rode this track, and it was Awesome. I rode it on a ttr110 but, we have my ktm 85 working now, so I’m excited to try it
Nice! We'll be there next weekend most likely
ANOTHER HARD HIT.... THIS GUY WAS OUT COLD!!! ruclips.net/user/shortsrf_Hku0UzS8
What kind of crank case oil goes in that engine?
2 stroke injection oil. Anything good. I like lucas marine 2 cycle
@@Fixin2Ride-Official- ok so no true crankcase oil like a dirtbike. Thanks
No sir
It's not going to last very long bud.. you should have drilled two oil holes in the center of the piston on the exhaust side! Helj my girlfriend knows to do that 😂
What's "very long" mean? Haven't had one problem with it since rebuilt. Lol
I have the exact bike and this build series helps out a lot I appreciate you man!!
So glad people are finding my channel useful!
Andrew, I see you are a Fellow Michigander ;) I have an 03 XR100 that I just did this gearing switch on. I was going to go with 15/46 but figured that would be way to steep for the trail layout work we do up here for the Jackpine/Pinecone Enduro. My XR is my secondary bike as I have a Fully Modded TTR125/150 that is usually my go to bike, which I also did a gearing swap on. We do alot of road/two track riding between sections and I can Always use More mph on top-end for Beer-Thirty back at the Clubgrounds after arrowing All day long out in the woods. Thanks for the video !!!
Hello! Can I add this video to my upcoming compilation? It would help me launch my channel. Thank you ! (:
ONLY if my channel name, logo and Link are in the description as well as logo and channel name are in the video somewhere.
Lefty Lucy still ?
Yes I believe so. If memory serves me correctly
Hey man awesome video just like the rest! Quick question, I have a 2006 crf250r and was gonna install a 2009 cam shaft, I was wondering if there was anything else that I needed to change like the valves or the valve springs or would it run just fine with cam and stock valves and springs?
Thanks. I our an 08 cam which is the same cam as 09 in my 06 and I made sire to get new cutters (hold valve stem to top spring retainer) and 08/09 springs. Valves are the same. May as well and go ahead and get a new timing chain also for safe measures if it's been a while. That way you don't have to worry about it.
@@Fixin2Ride-Official- I’m sorry I’m a little confused when u say new cutters what do you mean by that? And good thing my timing chain already needs replaced lol
Sorry I meant cotters. They are the little wedges that go around the valve stem at the top and lock the stem to the spring so the valves are pulled back up
@@Fixin2Ride-Official- so I need the 08/09 valve springs and is it just new cotters or the 08/09 cotters? Does the cotters need to be replaced or could I get by without them?
Yes 08/09 springs and new cutters to ensure no mishaps. They're cheap insurance
Are clutch tools universal or specific to brand/machine?
They are specific to brand and model of clutch
We r going riding there this Saturday looking forward to it
Once my shoulder is stable again (just about 4 weeks out of a good sprain) I'll be hitting the track more. Appreciate the encouragement!
Good job out there
Thanks! It was my first time riding here and the 07 I was on had crappy front brakes. I had to cut out a few clips of me going down on account of my crappy brakes. Potty mouth prevailed. Smh ha ha. Appreciate ya watching.
@@Fixin2Ride-Official- yeah man I am just a c class rider but my son is B class on kx 450. I will be riding a kx 450 2019 for the first time since in forever, lol. So wish me luck man. Keep posting and be proud of yourself. Gotta have good brakes for sure bro
I've been in vet class mostly butter couple times I rode with C class practices I did pretty well. Oh nice! I haven't ridden a 450 on a track yet. Might try it this year. Got a buddy that has one and told me I can ride it whenever.
Good job out there
Thank you.
how about giving it some gas.
🤣🤣🤣 this was his first time back on a dirt bike in years.
How easy is it to sand too much by accident? I sanded my '95 CR250r head until most of the marks were gone (still a few left but think it'll be fine) I sanded in a back&forth motion on a dinner table rotating for about 5 minutes a little faster than you're going. Is my compression off & might I start to have pre-detonation? Just worried I took more than .001" off by accident. Really has me worried I ruined the head
You should be okay. But once you get it back together go warm it up take it for a rip bring it back and check your plug to see what it looks like. Depending on what type of gasoline octane you use you should just be able to bump it up a little and go from there. That is if it changed anything.
@@Fixin2Ride-Official- Awesome thanks man, watched a buncha head-sanding videos & i'm estimating I hardly took much off at all. I'm gonna do it the way you showed (wet/figure-8 crosshatch/gentler) next time 4sure lmao & got 100 octane ready to mix if it changed 🤙🏾🔥
Heck yeah good deal! Thanks for watchin!
Is that bottom damping bolt reverse thread? I tried impacting it off but it just spins and didn’t back out at all. If it is reverse thread I probably stripped that bolt.
Also adding it won’t go back in or come out at all just spins in place
It's Not reverse threading. Once it's unscrewed you have to yank it out as it's wedged in by an oring
@@Fixin2Ride-Official- I found the problem! The damper rod just spins on the inside so I made a special tool to hold it from spinning, yours must have not been siezed and came right off
What color green was used on the engine and how much to do a set of 700 heads and jug for me?
I used a 2 stage combo of superchrome with candy green over it. 400 for the set.
did this affect on hangin idle? im struggling to find my culprit.
Hanging idle means your pilot jetting or fuel screw are set too lean. Back the fuel screw out 1/8 turn at a time, blimp the throttle and give it 10 seconds to stabilize until idle doesn't hang. If you need to go 3 or more turns out, your pilot jet is too small.
@@Fixin2Ride-Official- stock pilot is 38 and im running 48 and 3turns out :D
And my plate is more worn than yours 🤔
😲
Yeah that sounds like you should replace the set....
Taking the boys down to the track for the Academy on Saturday.😊
Oh nice! Have fun ans be safe!
Where can I buy all those parts especially those of the caliper
You can try Rocky Mountain ATV or Babbitt's online. And whatever you can't find their you just going to have to find on eBay or through a local Parts guy or purchase a parts bike
If you’re not sponsored or getting this stuff free then this is the biggest waste of money garbage product you will ever find. Their price is 22x what everyone else is and it still warps and breaks etc.. they this shit in the garbage and use old tracks or cheap plastic from eBay as it’s 1/22 of the cost and it works fine for what it is.
I haven't had an issue with this stuff at all. It's been absolutely great! Does it's job and holds up to the tough weather and makes loading, transporting and unloading a breeze and safe. No more slipping around on the competitors crap. Which I've also used before. Thanks for watching...
No, probably get a new one otherwise you will be tearing this motor back down again pretty soon
Getting fast enough that you need to start scrubbing the front straight
I think you're right. I have been looking unto it. I've been soaking up the jumps more instead of just riding them out and going high.
Was this Vet or C class?
Vet Class
Nice at 8:30 I seen a fast guy ripping around that turn...lol
Lol. I wonder who that was....
Awesome video thanks for posting andrew
Mt pleasure Thanks for watching! I'm still working on getting faster st this track, though.
Thank you for this I’m not new to riding but never been on a track before and this is the closest track to me
Good Deal and My Pleasure! You should definitely visit this track! It's most always in prime condition and the grounds are clean and staff is very friendly! It's the closest to me as well.
@@Fixin2Ride-Official- good to hear I’m hoping to be there soon and hopefully it’s not super busy I’m mainly concerned with being in peoples way lol
@stevebaker311 Eberyone new is always concerned about being other people's way. Just stick to your path and don't cross all over the place and riders faster than you will go around you.
Can you send me that tool, seriously. Im in the middle of a rebuild
You should be able to pick one up off of Amazon. Or if you have a buddy that welds he should be able to build one for you period where are you located?
I replace the battery to the middle where there's space for a storage box that's were I put the battery much better placement
Good deal. My 99 Honda Foreman 400 battery is in the middle under the back of the seat.
Mine started smoking so I changed it no more problems
Good idea!
Thank you so much andrew thats a big explanation . Thanks alot man for taking your time to explain . I actually brought it for a very less price . The person who sold it to me said it has a stuck engine and really it was not turning but i just brought it home and removed the engine mounts and moved the engine back to see if the engine was stuck but to see the impeller was stuck not the engine . So i was kinda lucky. And input some petrol from the top of the carburetor and cranked and it started but i think i need to give a good cleanup on the carbs . But parts never available here . My next worry is i removed my impeller up to some extent but now the rest is not coming put of the ski . The impeller part isn’t coming out or move put of the housing idk what to do .
My pleasure! That's good to hear that the engine runs and the Jet pumps are not terribly hard to remove. They're typically Just 4 bolts and the whole assembly comes out
@@Fixin2Ride-Official- Your Right Andrew . But my problem is i removed the bottom plate and i removed the 4 bolts and still i put some hard force to pull it out but it doesnt come when i pull. Do we have any pullers or something to pulll i thing its stuck inside the propeller
Do u have an email address or any contact information so i can write to you if i need any help . Thanks!
Sorry for the delayed response I was at the Track yesterday. Once you remove the 4 retaining bolts there is a big seal that seals the jet pump to the hull. This seal is a wedge fit and gets corroded. So you will need to use a bit of force. Try using a rubber mallet and work it back and forth as well with a prybar. I wouldn't put the prybar directly on the hull though. Maybe use a thin but sturdy piece of wood. Try and get something between the jet pump and anchor plate from below. Then work it back and forth until it comes out. Be prepared as it might take a bit of time. Just be gentle but forceful enough to get it out. You can do it. Just take your time. You don't want to bust anything... It's all aluminum. Let me know when you get it out and I'll give you further instruction on how to refurbish the seal, mating surfaces and jet pump. Andrew P.S. This is the best place for this kind of stuff as others will have access to this information. Hope you understand.
Hey Andrew. Wishes all the way from Sri Lanka. Great video . recently i bought a 900 stx 2003 . I have a question regarding my speedometer the warning light blinks the engines starts but there is nothing show on the display is there any seperate fuses or anything for the speedometer . Just the waring light blinks.
Thank you very much and best wishes to you as well. If you're not seeing anything on the dashboard these displays are known for going bad. You can either buy one for about 350 bucks or get a repaired for the same. Just make sure that you have good fuel in the tank and that you have plenty of oil and the reservoir which is in the front under the lid after you take the front trunk out. Mark it with some tape or a black marker. Then take it for a calm ride and check your plugs as well as check the oil again to see how much it has gone down. If you got new fuel in there your plugs look good and it's using a proper amount of oil and there's water coming out of the pisser port on the right side of the hull by your right foot then you should be good.
I don’t know why but my quad I just cleaned the carburetter it starts and it drives, but when I go full throttle at like bog, but like I can’t find how to fix it is there any ideas that you can tell in the comments on what it could be
Check the diaphragm on top of the carb. They lift the valve by vacuum and can crack. It's 4 screw on top of the carb.
Not necessary to spread the furrows out. If you have a skirt on the back of the tiller, you'll get a beautiful seedbed ready to go
I was actually considering adding a skirt today.
Those tillers are heavy heavy. I wondered how you managed wrestling it by yourself, then I got a good pic of your arms!
Ha ha. Yeah, being the youngest in my family, leverage is something that I've learned a lot about doing things mostly on my own... Yes though. A little extra guns helps! 😉
Cool video, love to get a KDX 200 or 220, or old IT200, but I'm best on four wheels. Your skills are really getting good!
Oh I highly recommend getting in 2 wheels in dirt! Lol. Lots of fun. Even if you just roll everything. It's a great workout and challenging. Thank you. I'm trying! 🤜💥🤛 But yeah that IT200 is a sick looking bike! Try and find some FB groups. They're bound to steer you in the right direction!
Next Video to Show you what I was talking about for the "Seat Surprise" ruclips.net/video/GvFm73tiK78/видео.html
Don't understand why🎉 the tank is connected to the seat. Artic Cat is Stupid. Bunch of bs. Artic Cat never made good seats.
Yeah I'm sure it was probably for less parts and bolts and holes through the tunnel.
Lots. of work Andrew. But excellent video
Thanks and yes it can be a chore.
Check the engine to pump rubber coupling. It is a constant source of disaster. Tighten the bolts and allen screws.
I don't even know what you're talking about where is that located
@@Fixin2Ride-Official- the engine to pump flexible coupling. can't miss it. Also check engine mounts, they fall apart.
Copy that thank you
You should not hone nikasil with a ball hone
I'm not sure where you heard that from but that's actually false. All the service manuals say to use an aluminum oxide ball home at roughly 320 grits to deglaze and add cross hatch.
Slavens racing video , all the replating companies.
What fittings did you use to connect the drain extension to the compressor leg?
I believe they were 1/2" brass pipe fittings.
